Helping leaders drive innovation in their teams
A ClockWise innovation workshop where every leader works on a real issue and leaves with an action plan.
The client
The client is an international information technology company known for innovation. It is a large enterprise group with a diversified strategy in China and around the world.
The challenge
Innovation is central to the company's culture. Its learning and development team faced a common leadership challenge: managers were used to relying on their own experience and individual contributions.
In teams focused on innovation, people were reluctant to share ideas they felt were not fully formed, especially when ideas were often rejected. Innovation comes from a team that is willing to take risks, push ahead and accept failure. The L&D team needed a practical method to help leaders see their role in innovation and build the ability to lead an innovative team.
What we designed
ClarkMorgan designed the workshop together with key stakeholders, so the issues and opportunities came from real cases in participants' working lives.
In the workshop, each participant led their own round of ClockWise with their issue or opportunity as the focus. At the end, each one produced an actionable ClockWise Innovation Plan to review and follow through with their manager or sponsor and their team.
What the programme included
- Pre-workshop design with key stakeholders
- Single-facilitator delivery for consistency and flexibility
- Real case studies from participants' own experience
- Defining an individual innovation issue or opportunity
- How to build innovation leadership
- The ClockWise Planner for action planning
- Accountability and feedback
- Post-workshop report and follow-up consultation
The result
Every leader left with an innovation plan for a real issue, a manager or sponsor to review it with, and follow-up support from ClarkMorgan.
