Texas Instruments: A graduate performance programme for China
ClarkMorgan won a four-way tender to deliver Texas Instruments' graduate performance programme across China.
The client
Texas Instruments (TI) has a culture of developing talent instead of hiring it in. In the United States, TI hires students who have completed internships. In China, internships are less common and study is more focused on book learning.
The challenge
TI wanted a consistent level of business acumen across the company worldwide. It introduced a graduate acceleration programme for around 200 new Chinese graduates each year, designed to teach the TI mindset and behaviours and show how to use them to improve workflow and performance.
The materials were produced by TI in the United States and could not be changed. TI still expected trainers to connect the content to its core values (curiosity, being proactive, accountability, alignment, connectivity and making it happen) and to a Chinese audience. To ensure quality, TI asked four training firms to audition.
What we designed
ClarkMorgan won the tender and assigned two full-time trainers. Both were Hogan Assessment certified and each had more than 10 years of business experience.
Both trainers completed TI's internal training to qualify to deliver the programme. ClarkMorgan then ran the first programme with a group of 16 graduates. The results of that group would decide whether ClarkMorgan ran the rest.
The result
The first group was a success, so the three remaining programmes for TI's graduates went ahead with ClarkMorgan.
“We would like to continue to cooperate with ClarkMorgan in 2014, particularly because the trainers were very professional and knowledgeable.”
